Importance of Proper Disposal

Properly disposing of bladder control products is just as important as choosing the right protection product. It is not a subject that comes up often when talking about bladder weakness but is an issue that deserves special attention.

Some of the anxiety and embarrassment can be eased by making sure, whether you are at home or on the go, that you have a clean, easy and discreet way to dispose of wet products. Since the average person uses 2 to 3 products daily and wears them for 5 to 8 hours on average, it is sensible to wrap them up so no one views or smells soiled disposable products.

Normal urine does not necessarily have a foul smell. Since many people with bladder control problems limit fluids, this causes the urine to become highly concentrated and have a bad odor. Infection can also cause foul-smelling urine (contact your Doctor if the problem continues). Some foods, beverages, and medications affect the smell of urine. The best way to control odors is with good hygiene so start by changing products when soiled. This will also reduce the risk of skin breakdown and infections caused by a lack of air flow and moist conditions. Wet bladder control products are warm and moist and are an ideal breeding ground for odor-causing bacteria.

It may be obvious, but we will remind you anyway…DO NOT FLUSH anything down the toilet, other than human waste and toilet paper. Bladder control products are made to absorb and will clog a toilet. If it passes through the toilet drain, it will surely contribute to major blockages in sewer and septic systems.

After changing a product it should be discarded in a leak proof, sealable bag as soon as possible. SCENSIBLES Plus bags have easy to use, tie handle closure to totally conceal a product. The pattern on the bag helps to hide its contents allowing for discreet disposal. The embedded antimicrobial additives inhibit odor-causing bacteria growth and the fresh fragrance helps to mask unpleasant odors. SCENSIBLES Plus bags can be used at home or you can take some with your clean pads when you are out on the go!
